The Heights

Peter Hedges (author and screen-writer of "What's Eating Gilbert Grape") has a new book out titled "The Heights". The first cover I saw for this made my head spin, the second made it stop.

After reading the summary for the book, the second cover made a lot more sense for the story. I don't really understand the use of the slanted type on the first cover. It reminded me a bit of "Freedom" but just awkward. Also, the title comes so close to the author's name it looks unnecessarily squished.
