Sometimes, unfortunately, the book you really want is going to have an ugly cover (like the too-busy front for Diddy's book which is obviously a coveted read). So like a true book lover, you'll breathe in deep, pick it up off the shelf and take it home with you. But I'll warn you: once you've got it on your bedside table that hideous thing is going to haunt you until you place it face-down.
I come bearing good news; there are solutions to these cover design nightmares. An additional book cover can provide a little extra cover-up for an unfortunate design mishap. Luckily, there are more options than the stretchy covers you used on your text books in middle school.
In this post I will concentrate on some of the jacket covers I like best, but there are a lot more out there to be found. I've chosen to highlight the JACKET+BOOKMARK designs by Icoeye, Book City Jackets' Fold-to-Fit products (below) and some pretty-patterned cotton creations I discovered on Etsy.

First are the simple jacket + bookmark designs by Igor “Rogix” Udushlivy, the mastermind behind Icoeye.
In his own blog update, Udushlivy wrote, "I wonder that it would be great if we can use dust jackets and bookmarks together to create a unique image of a paper book. This idea can help to expand book’s space."
He used this great theory to design jackets for iconic works, such as "Robin Hood", "Moby-Dick", "The Sword in the Stone", "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland " and more.
Next up are the lovely creations from Book City Jackets, who not only encourage you to "Make Every Book Beautiful", they'll help you do it. BCJ, founded in 2008, prints their jackets on recycled kraft paper, which is just another reason to love them.
BCJ currently has two Artists Edition series available as well as their Reading List series.
Artists Edition No. 2 features original works by three great artists and the set of 3 jackets runs at $15.
Artists Edition No. 3 features original works by three different artists than No. 2.
At three dollars less than an Artists set, the Reading List jackets are great as well. As their site describes, "Even as you polish off 'Eat, Pray, Love' and dive into the 'Twilight' series, 'Reading List' ensures that you always look classy. Perfect for the aspirational reader. "
Although I may favor them for taking jab at "Eat, Pray, Love", I think others will appreciate their simplicity and practicality.
BCJ even features an adorable how-to guide on their Web site for proper jacket use.
And, last but not least, some pretty patterned cloth covers from 2boos on Etsy. This Dublin-based seller has created hand-made covers that come in multiple patterns from IKEA fabrics and even feature a ribbon bookmark. I definitely recommend visiting her shop.
